Today’s success story is Tracy. Tracy has lost 81 pounds and has gone from this:
75 pounds lighter and living a whole new life. Enjoy her story!
A year ago, I was a 5’2” 34-year old diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was taking seven medications and weighing an astounding 230 lbs. Basically, I was the epitome of a couch potato! When I came home from work at night, and 95% of the time on the weekends, I would go to my “comfy TV chair” and not move a muscle. I did not have energy, nor did I have the motivation to DO anything! In 2012 at my yearly physical, my doctor informed me that not only was I pre-hypertensive, but also my “health age” was 15 years older than my biological age!
My wonderful partner, Jen, and our chiropractor, intervened. They made me realize that I had to make a change. Jen and I have been trying to have a baby for two years, and I don’t want to be the type of mom that can’t play with her children, or even worse, not be around at all! So, my chiropractor put me in touch with my AMAZING health coach.
On October 23, 2012, I took the first step to changing my life forever and started on my health program, Take Shape for Life fueled by Medifast. After a month on plan, I was down 18 pounds and felt amazing! I had more energy than I had ever had in the past 10 years. I wanted to be active on the weekends and even after work at night. Jen could barely keep up! Within four months I had joined a tennis league; I always joke around and say that I went from couch to tennis!
Ok, so beyond the energy, which is great don’t get me wrong, but let’s look at the medical side of things.
I am off two of my medications and reduced my cholesterol by 55 points.
I can say with the biggest smile on my face that I am currently 81 lbs. lighter and only 16 pounds from my GOAL. Without a doubt in my mind, this program not only changed my life, but it SAVED my life. I truly feel like I HAVE to tell others about how life changing this program can be. There are so many people out there struggling with their health and weight and I am getting such joy helping others with their own personal health journey.
I am almost at my goal weight and am so excited to move onto the Transition & Maintenance phase of this plan. I know, without a doubt, that I will be able to maintain this weight loss, and my active and healthier lifestyle, forever.
Tell us a little about yourself, your family, your job, etc…
I live in Atlanta with my partner and our dog. I am originally from Mobile Alabama but have lived here for over 13 years. I have 2 jobs; I work for an Insurance Benefits Enrollment Firm and now, I am a Health Coach.
How long did it take you to get to your ideal weight? Are you there now?
It took me 9 months to lose 81 pounds and I only have about 17 left to go before I reach my goal!
What was your motivation to lose weight?
I was very sick! I was severely obese and on 7 medicines for RA. I had to do something or I was going to die younger than I should have!
What made you decide to start your weight loss journey?
My partner had an intervention of sorts. She was worried about me and my health and came to me and said that she wanted to support me and do this optimal health program with me. She was only planning on doing for a month to lose 10 pounds, off the subject but she lost 43!!!
What kept you on track losing weight?
The transformation in not only my body but my energy and my mind. I was able to do things for the first time in a very very long time. Instead of going home and changing clothes and not moving from the couch we are taking walks, going out with friends, cooking dinner and running errands after a long day at work!
Tell us about a typical day in terms of eating and exercise.
During tennis season I usually play tennis a few times a week and take a walk or two. When I am not in tennis season I try to focus on walking and taking the stairs ALWAYS at work and going the long way to EVERYTHING in my office. I am currently on an optimal health program so my eating is going to be very specific to that plan.
What is the biggest difference you have noticed because of your weight loss?
The energy is amazing! Not only that but I am off medications and a lot of my RA symptoms are gone. I just feel better overall!
What advice can you give to others struggling to lose weight?
You can do it! You just have to come up with your “why”. Why do you want to lose weight and become healthy. For me it is because my partner and I want to start a family and I do not want to be the mother that can’t get on the floor and play with their child. Even more important I don’t want to be the mother that dies prematurely because of my overall bad health and not able to raise and watch my child grow up.
How do you keep the weight off in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle?
I eat healthy and stay active! The key is the balance in your live that you create along with the healthy habits.
Give us a quote or a motto that you have used to keep you focused.
Change is hardest at the beginning, messiest in the middle and best at the end.
WOW, Tracy! What a transformation and it took less than a year! What a fabulous testimony for this weight loss program! I can’t wait to see how well you do in maintenance and how many other lives you touch through your health coaching.
