Weight Watchers Success Story Kari Before and After

Kari is the epitome of determination.  I love her story and I know you will too!  Enjoy!

Tell us a little about yourself, your family, your job, etc…
My name is Kari and I am 37 years old. I am a wife and mother of 2 boys (ages 12 and 13). My husband and I own our own business and we live in Mitchell, Indiana.

How long did it take you to get to your ideal weight? Are you there now?
Weight Watchers Success Story Kari Before Losing WeightI joined Weight Watchers on November 1, 2012 and I have lost 102.6 pounds so far. I am not to my goal yet, and have about another 140 to lose, but I am so happy to be under 300 pounds for the first time in probably 15-20 years!

What was your motivation to lose weight?
It started off being for my family. I wanted to be a better wife and mother. But along the way, I am learning to love myself and find myself worthy of doing this for me!

What made you decide to start your weight loss journey?
I was tired of being tired. I was tired of sitting on the sidelines and watching others live the life I wanted. I was afraid that if I didn’t make changes, I wouldn’t be around for my family.

What kept you on track losing weight?
Having to weigh-in once a week at Weight Watchers and the support I have found through my leader and members has been key to my success. Weight Watchers has taught me how to use food to fuel my body and not my emotions. The online tracking tools have made keeping track of my food, exercise, and weight very easy!

Tell us about a typical day in terms of eating and exercise.
Breakfast is usually oatmeal and fruit. Lunch is soup, salad, and a yogurt. Dinner is a lean meat and veggies. Snacks are fruit, yogurt, and other low Weight Watcher point items I find! I exercise 5 days a week. I like to keep my workouts different so I don’t get bored. I walk, bike, elliptical, treadmill, weights, and different videos I have discovered.

What is the biggest difference you have noticed because of your weight loss?
The biggest difference I have noticed is in the way I feel. I have SO much more energy than I did at over 400 pounds. Mentally, I feel better about myself and find it easier to be more social with others. My tastes have changed and (most of the time) I do not crave the old comfort foods and junk. I actually enjoy healthy eating and exercising.Weight Watchers Success Story Kari After Losing 100 pounds

What advice can you give to others struggling to lose weight?
You ARE worth it. You can do it if you learn to love yourself and take care of yourself. It is not always easy, but the results are worth it. Find support from people around you and online. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Don’t be ashamed of admitting that you need to change. Find what plan or program works for you and DO IT! You ARE worth it!

How do you keep the weight off in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle?
I am not to my goal yet and I have had weeks where the scale has not gone down, but the way I feel is enough to keep me going. I NEVER want to go back to that tired, depressed 402 pound person.

Give us a quote or a motto that you have used to keep you focused.
“It’s not just the weight you lose: but the life you gain”

Don’t think that being overweight or unhealthy is “just how it is.” You don’t have to stay where you are, but you do have to choose to change!

Amazing job, Kari!  You ARE doing it and we can’t wait to see you when you get to goal.  THANK YOU for sharing your story with us.
