It’s All Up To You

Well, the lazy days of summer are here………or are they?

We had about 4 days off for summer and all of a sudden, high school basketball practice has started up for my daughter.

Wait, what?

I had no idea I would get this busy, this quickly. My daughter, who isn’t even in high school until August, needs to practice for the month of June if she is wanting to make the team in October. Luckily, she enjoys playing and is pretty good at it. She is 14 and 5’11”. Let’s just say she towers over everyone in our family including my parents and sister…just not my husband who is 6’5″. It is keeping her busy and I don’t have to hear her say that she is bored every 5 min.  The negative is, they aren’t wanting to pay to air condition the gym this summer so it is HOT!!!!!!

Then, there are all of the friends that they are wanting to invite over to the pool to go swimming. I feel like I have different kids coming and going all summer long. Oh wait…..I do.

Then. our church has lots of summer activities for the kids to do like eating out once a week, vacation bible school, going to the lake, meeting at an indoor trampoline park, sleep away camp, etc. Which is all fun for them but keeps me running.

Then, apparently I try to fit all of their doctors and dentist appointments in during the summer so all of those are keeping us going too.

All of this to say, there haven’t been many lazy days yet!!

I did manage to get jump started back into losing weight and am so happy about that. I managed to stay on plan for a week and I am down 5.6 pounds. I feel extremely proud of myself. I have realized that when it comes down to it, it really isn’t that hard and it’s all very mental.

Medifast is such an easy plan to follow. They have made it easy for you so you can lose weight easily. Honestly, you just choose 5 of their meals to eat in a day and make your own lean and green meal. So simple.  I would do so well if I didn’t stand in my own way.

Ooooooh, so that is the problem……. Me……. Yep.

It is all up to me whether I stay on plan or not. It is all up to me whether I let my emotions get the best of me and dive into a bag of chips. It is all up to me to say no when someone offers me food that I should not be having. It is all up to me. No matter how much my husband, or parents, or siblings want me to be thin and healthy, they can’t do it for me. I have to do it for me. It is all up to me!!

I will tell you that here in Georgia, it is HOT!!!! So I am really enjoying making things into frozen shakes. I have found the perfect little shake thermal (that I bought at Target).

I have an addiction to buying cute water bottles, so when I saw this one, I thought it would be perfect for my shakes.

It is literally just for my shakes. Things I will make into shakes are the brownie, the shakes, and any of the soft serves can be made into shakes too. Oh, and another fave  is making the chocolate chip soft bake into a java chip frap. Yummy!! So good.  In the morning I will sometimes add a tbsp of instant coffee for an extra caffeine boost and sometimes I will add some sugar free flavored syrups. Escpecially to things like the vanilla shake. It can really make some good shakes like egg nog, white chocolate, and salted caramel, just to name few. To add volume and to make it thicker, I always add a cup of ice and mix it in my Ninja blender. I LOVE that thing!!

Sometimes when I wake up late and need to catch up on a meal, I will mix two together and make one HUGE shake. No kidding, it will take a long time to drink it and it’s very filling. My most common ones to mix are a brownie and a peanut butter soft serve. Sooooo good!!

As I sit here and write this I am having a chocolate peanut butter blizzard!! Haha, just kidding. It does taste really good though. Here is how to make it:

1 cup of unsweetened almond milk, 1 brownie packet, 1 tbsp of chocolate Walden Farms syrup (it has 0 everything, like calories, fat, carbs, etc), 1 wedge of laughing cow light cheese, 1 tbsp of PB2 (this is powdered peanut butter), 1 cup of ice. Mix all together and put in your cute little thermal cup. Add a dollop of light whipped cream to the top and you will feel like you are cheating. This is what it looks like and is absolutely one of my favorites.

To sum up my post. No one can do this for you. You have to do this for You. It is all up to You. You can do this. I can do this. Are you going to choose to stay on your plan this week and be down in weight next week or are you going to fall off and go up in weight? It’s all up to you!!
