Why, Oh Why?

Life...

I know what to do.  I know how to behave.  I know how to eat.  I know how to plan.

Why, Oh Why am I NOT doing what I know to do?

I have NOT had a stellar week in my weight loss journey.  I have not written everything down like I said I would.  I have not exercised like I said I would.  I could sit here and tell you WHY I didn’t but WHY doesn’t really matter.  Those are all just excuses.

I am so thankful for new weeks.  I am so thankful that this is MY LIFE and I get to start over every Monday morning.

I am so thankful that I am on a lifestyle journey to live healthy and NOT a diet.

I am so thankful that I have the realization to know when enough is enough and I have to start doing what I know to do.

I am so thankful that even though I might not like what I see on the scale tomorrow morning, I will go to my Weight Watchers meeting, weigh in, sit next to friends and people who are going through the same thing.  Why?  Because I am worth it!  And because it keeps me accountable for my actions all week long!  Good or bad…I am going to my meeting because this is my life.  It’s not a fancy diet or “program.”

Did you have a better week than I did?  I know some people did because they have shared their success with me.

If you had a week like mine, I am here to tell you that tomorrow is a new day.  A fresh week where we get to “start over!”  Who out there is thankful for that other than me?

Thank you for posting this today!  I needed it.  I’ve been having “those weeks” for a few weeks now.  It’s exhausting how I beat myself up over not sticking to “the plan”.  It’s time to do what I need to do and be honest with myself.  I’m the one in charge of how I do.  Why have I been putting myself down and not taking the best care of myself possible??  It’s encouraging to know others do the same thing…

    Here’s to a better week!!

No more beating yourself up. It’s called life and we are all in this together!

Good blog today! I think that is why I like being a Beachbody Coach so much. Because I explain it is a journey not a diet, a lifestyle not a fitness fad. Keep it up.

      Thanks Kristen!

Every day is a new chance to start anew on our journey. This lifestyle is for a lifetime, and when we keep trying, we are NOT giving up! We will never never never never give up. (In the immortal words of Winston Churchill.)

Such a great point! NEVER give up!

Thanks for this post. I also believe in starting over every Monday and am thankful for each and every one. I consider myself “on program” if I attend meeting and record everything I eat, even if there are some guesses. I may not loose weight every week doing this but I rarely gain when I am “on program” as opposed to when i don’t attend a meeting or stop recording my food. Exercise is my waterloo. Someday I hope to find something I can really stick with and not suffer any injuries! Have a greaat week.

Good points! I need to guess a little more when I don’t know the points instead of not tracking!

I had one of those weeks last week. I could list all of my seemingly valid excuses, but they don’t really matter. What matters is that any moment is a chance to start over, and I need to keep reminding myself of that. Even if I wake up and eat something I shouldn’t for breakfast, that doesn’t mean the day is done.

Going to the meeting was key. I considered skipping, but just because I don’t know how bad it was, doesn’t make it any less bad. Know it, accept it and move on from it. You’re such and inspiration to so many of us, Jennifer. You got this!

Thank you Becci. You are so right, meetings are key. There is something about being held accountable for your actions. Great point!

Wow!  I have been asking myself the same thing lately.  I want to kick myself for the choices I have been making!!!  All I can say – I have until Thursday morning until weigh in – maybe I will do what I know I can between now and then.  I just need to write it down – I do so much better when I do.  I can’t lie to myself then!!!

    • http://www.itsuxtobefat.com Jennifer Swafford

How did you do? Are you back on track? You’ve got this!

Right there with you.  I’ve been lifetime for a couple months now, and it seems like I weigh in at the beginning of the month, eat whatever I please for the first two weeks, then spend the next two weeks doing anything and everything I can to get back down to my goal weight…  Not fun.  Sticking to the WW plan helped me lose, so it would help me maintain too… if I let it.  The exercise is coming easier (translated I may not want to start, but I never regret it when I’m done), but it’s SO easy to overeat or indulge in things I shouldn’t… Time to get back on the horse :-)

    • http://www.itsuxtobefat.com Jennifer Swafford

Good for you for reaching Lifetime! I have heard that maintaining is even harder so even if you are doing two weeks on, two weeks off, at least you are maintaining. I agree though that it would be easier if you stayed the course the whole month but sometimes that just isn’t possible. Good for you for recognizing what needs to be done!

I think even though we know what works, we know what to do…it’s easy to make excuses and not do it.  Especially when we are so close to a “goal weight” or another goal – it’s like it’s easier when you have SO much to lose or SO much to accomplish.  Then when you do it…it’s good!  But you never really finish…I totally know what you are going through!

    • http://www.itsuxtobefat.com Jennifer Swafford

That’s right…we NEVER really finish. It’s called life and isn’t it a great ride?

I agree. Healthy lifestyle such as well balanced meals and regular exercise are the proven ways to really lose weight. — http://gastricbypassadvice.com/gastric-band/

Sounds like a lot of people are struggling right now (myself included).  I’m definitely thankful for a new week.  :)

New weeks rock! Glad to know we are all in this together!

Last week I had a great week, ate well, exercised and felt that all was going really well, the week before that however, I could have written this post. How this week will unfold I have no idea, there sometimes seems to be no particular reason that I go off the deep end, I just do.

    • http://www.itsuxtobefat.com Jennifer Swafford

You are so right…we have to take it week by week! Day by day and sometimes even minute by minute.

I had to hit the RESET button again this morning, after overindulging last night.  I know better.  I have a plan and…..?  This is my journey, not a diet and some days the journey is easier.  Back at it today!  Thanks for the reminder.

    • http://www.itsuxtobefat.com Jennifer Swafford

Good for you for getting back on track! That is key!

  • 19SkinnyGirlInside76

I am thankful for you and everyone else sharing their struggles and showing me that I am not the only one with struggles.  I too am thankful that today is a new day.

    • http://www.itsuxtobefat.com Jennifer Swafford

Isn’t it great to have so many other people going through the same struggles? We are not alone!
