On my drive to work yesterday, this song came on the radio:
PLEASE watch the video and listen to the words. My words will make a lot more sense if you do! I promise it is worth it!
Here are the lyrics from my favorite part of the song:
You can throw your hands up
You can be the clock
You can move a mountain
You can break rocks
You can be a master
Don’t wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you can find yourself
Standing in the hall of fame
And the world’s gonna know your name
Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world’s gonna know your name
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame
You could go the distance
You could run the mile
You could walk straight through hell with a smile
You could be the hero
You could get the gold
Breaking all the records that thought never could be broke
Do it for your people
Do it for your pride
Never gonna know if you never even try
How true are those words?
This song got me thinking, “What is my hall of fame?”
What is YOUR hall of fame?
If we only believed in ourselves that we could do it. If we only took that first step. If we only walked that first block. If we only walked through the doors at the local Weight Watchers. If we only downloaded that fitness app. If we only thought, I am going to start and
Never
Give
Up
If only we would start. Starting is what got me here. If I had never started, I would still weigh almost 300 pounds (probably more by now). If I had never said, “I am not going to quit, no matter what,” I would have quitted a LONG time ago.
I want to encourage you to start. Start today. Don’t wait until January 1 to change your life.
You can be the hero. You can get the gold. You can break all the records that you never thought you can break. Start believing in yourself. You just might surprise yourself!
Now, back to my original question. What is your hall of fame? Mine is getting to a healthy weight range and ultimately to become a healthy mother (God willing). And you better believe when I finally get to my weight loss goal, I WILL beat on my chest like King Kong and feel like I have just been entered into the freakin’ hall of fame!
What is your hall of fame? Do you believe you have what it takes to get you there?
