I really like Medifast. I really like how I lose weight on Medifast. I have struggled over the last few weeks with the snow, cold days and all of the disruptions in my life. I have finally gotten over my snow debacle this last week and am finally enjoying being back on program and seeing my weight go down again.
I enjoy reading people’s blogs who are on the Medifast program, on the Medifast boards. There was one in particular that I liked and she helped inspire me to write this post (and she doesn’t even know it). With that being said, I have come up with a list of a few things that I have learned while on this program.
*Staying on plan and keeping your head in the game is possible. You just have to do it and remind yourself of your “why”. Why are you losing this weight? It has to be bigger than your temptations that you face.
*My body likes me eating every 2-3 hours. It helps your metabolism and helps to keep your blood sugar stable. Many people recommend this and it helps to keep your hunger at bay.
*I don’t have to eat a ton of unhealthy food to enjoy a date night with my husband. I can go to a restaurant and eat a healthy lean protein, a salad, and a vegetable and still stay on plan.
*Don’t focus too much on the scale. This one is hard for me because I am a scale junky. If you weigh everyday, keep in mind people’s weight fluctuates due to water, sodium, etc. If you measure yourself, sometimes you are going to be going down in inches even though the scale isn’t moving very much.
*Your family and friends might not always be as supportive as you want them to be. Understand that this is your journey and they might not understand but you need to go about it the way you feel is best. They will all get over it when they see you are rocking out and losing weight!!
*One of hers, I want to quote because she said it perfectly and it applies to just about everybody. “Your body responds to the food you put into it. If you eat junk all day, you feel like junk all day. If you eat for fuel, that’s exactly what you get. A ton of energy.” This is such a great part about the journey…when you start feeling better.
*Your tastes will change. The more healthy food you eat, the more healthy food you crave. I love this. I have come to the realization that I love roasted vegetables. I really do crave them sometimes and I roast vegetables almost every night. I have also gotten one of my daughters and my husband liking them too!!
*Be a positive person. Nobody likes a Debbie Downer or someone who is overly critical. It will make your life so much easier and you will probably enjoy it more.
*Don’t give up. There are plenty of times that I have wanted to throw in the towel. I kind of feel like that would be the easy way out. I want to feel better, not be sick, feel healthy and strong. I know that not every day is going to be perfect but I am closer to my goal today than I was last week, and I will get there. Remember your journey is a marathon not a sprint. You are in this for life!!
I haven’t quit or given up. I am still here plugging away at this journey that I am on. I am proud of myself for that. I am still losing weight and trying to live a healthier life. Life tends to throw me a lot of curve balls but I just duck and keep on moving forward. I look for encouragement and support daily from where I can and love all of the support from our readers.
