She learned that weight loss is all about “going with the flow.”  She also learned that life is going to throw curve balls and she just had to be ready for them when they came!

I hope you enjoy her story!

Tell us a little about your weight loss journey…

My weight journey started back when I was a young teenager. I have never been small and have been laughed at most of my life due to my weight. At my highest, about 6 years ago, I was at 247+. We came home from a beach trip and once I saw those pictures that’s all it took. I then started Weight Watchers. I lost weight and but became “stuck” after a while so I quit. I did this 4 times over the years. 3 years ago I had a very bad asthma attack. I have had these since birth, but this one was different to where they could not get it under control and was going to have to put me on a ventilator. They did get it under control and at that time I decided enough was enough. I wanted to be here for my kids and family. I rejoined Weight Watchers and had a successful journey. I talked to my doctor about always getting “stuck” and found due to my genetics and PCOS I just have to work harder. When my dad passed, who I took care of, I did have a set back for a few months. However, I learned that life throws punches, I just had to learn to bob and weave! I joined again for the 5th time about 2 years ago and have now reached my goal. 74 pounds gone and I feel the best I have ever felt!! I have finally learned that weight loss doesn’t happen over night and there is no secret. It is eating healthy, exercise and knowing you have to keep it up.

How long did it take you to get to your ideal weight? Are you there now?

About 2 years.

What was your motivation to lose weight?

My wanting to stay alive and live a healthy lifestyle. I was tired of not feeling like doing anything.

What made you decide to start your weight loss journey?

Photos of myself and the fear of dying.

What kept you on track losing weight?

Each milestone and my ability to do more.

Tell us about a typical day in terms of eating and exercise.

I eat fruits and veggies, lean protein, and everything really in moderation. I do enjoy sweets! My exercise is running, walking, cardiovascular machines at the gym, cycling…really anything that I can enjoy.  Growing up with asthma, when I was young they didn’t know exercise was good for it.  I was never allowed to play ball, run, participate in many things that would cause me to get out of breath. Since losing weight, I ran my first 5k this past May. I have now ran 4 of them and starting to train for my first 10k in March.

What is the biggest difference you have noticed because of your weight loss?

My confidence and love for myself.

How do you keep the weight off in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle?

I still follow Weight Watchers and count points along with exercise.  I have also become a leader for Weight Watchers because I want to be that light for someone else.

What advice can you give to others struggling to lose weight?

Don’t stop. You are worth every bit of this journey!

Give us a quote or a motto that you have used to keep you focused.

Life can flash before your eyes.  Make sure yours is worth watching.

Don’t you just love that quote?  Would someone want to watch your life right now?  Would someone have wanted to watch me taking naps every afternoon four years ago?  No way…boring!  Make sure your life is worth watching.  Love it!

Congrats Ella! I love what she said about ‘bobbing and weaving’ :) And the 5K is AMAZING! I have asthma too and I know how hard it can be… And I agree: super pretty in the “before” picture! But more empowered and happy in the “after” :) #inspirational :)

She was pretty pre-loss and carried her weight very well… I wouldn’t have thought 250. Of course she looks great NOW, too! :)
