Playing Hooky

Every Monday night, at 5:30, I am in the same place unless I am sick or out of town.  EVERY Monday night, from 5:30-6:15 I am in my Weight Watchers meeting.  This has been my Monday night routine for the past two and a half years.  Well, it currently 5:45 p.m. and I am at home, on my couch, typing this post.  I am playing hooky from Weight Watchers.

Playing Hooky

I know what you are all thinking, “She must have gained weight!” or “She has stopped going!”  or “She decided to start one of those ‘other’ plans!”   Well, all of those things are far from the truth.

The fact is, I was not in the area where my Weight Watcher meeting is and I didn’t want to drive the 30 minutes to and from that area from where I live to go the meeting.  Plus, I already told my sister I would go with her on Friday morning to our leaders new meeting which is 5 minutes from my house for this week only.

So, why do I feel guilty?  Why do I feel like I am skipping class and I am going to get caught?

There used to be a time when going to a Weight Watcher meeting was an option.  If there wasn’t anything else going on and I had a good week, I would go.  Now, my meetings are a priority.  When I don’t go, I feel a void in my life.  It makes me feel weird and does not give me the positive, motivating start to my week that I am used to!  That is why I love Monday night meetings.  Yes, I know I am coming off of a weekend and weighing in the very next day.  Yes, I know I could have a whole week to “catch up” from the weekend.  But, you know what?  I don’t want to be able to have that excuse.  I want need to be held accountable for my weekend actions.

So, for this week, and this week only, I will go on Friday morning and get weighed in.  I will play hooky and feel guilty for not going to my “regular” meeting.  But you know what I realized?  I am so glad that I feel that way!  I am so glad that my health and my weight loss journey is that much of a priority that I miss that meeting when I don’t go.  I am glad that I feel guilty when I play hooky!  I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Do you make your weight loss and health a priority?  What is something that you miss if you don’t do like I miss my Weight Watcher meetings if I skip one?  Have you changed your thinking to make your weight loss a priority in your life?  Please share!

Happy Monday!  Make it a great week!
