No Pie For Pi Day

Happy Pi Day! March 14. 3.14…get it? PI Day? Well, in honor of Pi Day, I will NOT be eating pie and I encourage you NOT to eat pie also.

However, if you MUST eat pie, I would recommend this recipe because you can indulge without TOO much guilt.

Now, you go have your pie and I will eat my eggs, lettuce, chicken, and nuts!

I haven’t talked too much about my eating plan because I still am a complete advocate of Weight Watchers. However, my body needs a total re-boot. I was stuck. I had been stuck for almost two years playing with the same 10-20 pounds. Back and forth, back and forth.

Then Larry, the Crossfit guy, came into my life. He is going to un-stick my weight loss and get me headed in the right direction again. He has me on a strict eating/exercise plan to reprogram by body to burn FAT and not sugar/carbs. He calls it a “Reboot!”

So…to sum up my eating for the last two weeks, I have been eating a lot of protein, good fats (nuts, nut butters, coconut oil, etc), and HEALTHY carbs (non starchy vegetables and fruits). My fruits are limited because they are high in carbs but the vegetables are the way to go.

Basically, I have eggs with turkey bacon or sausage in the morning.

Snack will be a hard boiled egg, some almonds, and a piece of fruit.

Lunch is a nice big salad with chicken or turkey and veggies. Salad dressing with very low sugar.

Another snack is almonds or almond butter and celery.

Dinner is veggies with lean proteins (usually chicken or fish).

No sugar or artificial sweetener of any kind.

No cheese or dairy except Almond Milk.

Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

Is this an eating plan that I can live with the rest of my life? No.

Do I have to eat like this the rest of my life? No.

Can I eat this way for the next 8 weeks? Yes.

Is it making me think differently about food I put into my body? Absolutely.

So, here’s some cool things I have noticed in the last two weeks:

  • I have no cravings. The only cravings I have had were diet coke a few afternoons and I think that was mostly just habit.
  • I look at food differently. I am now looking at food for fuel purposes. What is going to give me the most energy?
  • I FEEL different. I have energy all day with no crashes in the afternoon.

It actually has not been that hard. I thought it would be horrible but due to the lack of cravings and the business of my life, it has been fairly easy. However, it takes quite a bit of planning!

Have I turned my back on Weight Watchers? No way. Am I counting points at the moment, no but was I counting points before? Not really.

I am excited to see what the next six and a half weeks have in store for me.

I FEEL different and that is a big part of all this!

So…that my friends is why I am not eating pie on this lovely Pi Day. I also will NOT be eating any Chicago Pizza Pie this weekend while I am in Chicago. Can’t do it…My health is worth more than the taste of authentic pizza in Chicago.

What are your plans for pi day? Are you planning to eat pie?

The strong determination towards losing weight is making you ignore the delicious foods. It’s good that you are not carving foods which are not correct for your diet plans. I hope you can shed more pounds with these eating habits.

Well it is not exactly 3.14159…day but I did pie out today…friend in two and had part of pizza pie for lunch, and a piece of key lime pie for dinner (my diet never does so well when friends in town :)) Now that I have gone pie crazy, maybe I will have to try the peanut butter pie – BP one of my favorites…

The low carb thing definitely works. When I need to take off a lot of weight quickly, that is the way I go.
