New School Year

Jennifer starting a new school yearTomorrow is the start of a brand new school year.  It is amazing to think that this is my 13th year teaching.  How did that happen?  Am I that old?

I am looking forward to seeing all the cute kids in their “first day” outfits.  The girls always look so cute and the boys so handsome and everyone is so excited to come back to school (Well…not ALL…there is always at least one kindergarten child NOT happy to be leaving mom!).

I’ve had a great weekend getting ready for the new year.  I have done a lot of taking care of myself this weekend.  I slept A LOT!  I needed it.  I had a few very late nights last week and I needed the extra sleep!  I tracked ALL of my food intake (Will talk more about that in a minute).  I also walked both days for an extended period of time and mowed the lawn yesterday.  I made some great, healthy choices!

I told you last week that I brought home the traveling tracker from my meeting this week.  That thing has seriously kept me on track with my eating.  I have measured everything, weighed it all, and written it all down!  I didn’t eat any extra Weight Watchers points this week and only ate a few of my activity points.  I haven’t starved either.  Will I lose weight tomorrow night?!?  Only the scale tomorrow night will tell!  I’ll let you know!

I learned this weekend that sometimes it is OK to put work aside and take care of yourself.  The work will always be there and we are more capable of doing the work better if we have taken care of ourselves.

It’s been a great weekend and I am excited for the first day of school tomorrow.  My goals for this week are to continue to track and get in more exercise than I did last week.  Have a great week everyone!

If don’t take care of yourself, you can’t be at your best to take care of others. Not in a selfish way, but sometimes you have to step out and shut off the outside world. Sleep is an important part of staying healthy.

I hope you had a great first day! This is my first year teaching, and I imagine I will ALWAYS get the same “first-day butterflies”. I hope you have great kids!

Hey, Jennifer! I’m a Cobb teacher myself, and not where I’d like to be yet, either, but I wanted to tell you about a bootcamp group I’m in. It is a supportive family that really helps push each other to the next level. Congrats on losing so much weight! I think it’s time for you to become an athlete..:) (y’know, that one that’s inside you waiting to come out?) Check out our training site at http://www.firemanfitness.org. We’d love to have you come join us!
