A new cupcake place opened up close to where I work, Gigi’s Cupcakes. Being the loving and amazing wife that I am, I bought my husband six for Valentine’s Day.
So, here is the problem…
They were so good! We loved them all so much that we had a hard time picking our favorite.
I think they must put some kind of drug in the cupcakes because you start to crave them after you eat them. So, my husband and I have been splurging on cupcakes lately due to our “cravings.” So, craving splurges lead to gained weight. It hasn’t been a lot that I have gained but a pound or so for the last two weeks.
So…I decided this morning that I was going to be super strict this week. I am going to count every point I eat and take nightly walks. Tuesdays are my new weeks since I weigh in at Weight Watchers on Monday nights. I was doing so well today counting Weight Watcher points, putting in everything I was going to eat today and then BOOM…Gigi’s cupcakes delivered to my elementary school.
Not only were they delivered but I was the first one to get to pick my flavor! And there, sat our all-time favorite flavor, grasshopper. I quickly snatched it out of that box and hauled booty to my classroom where I was going to enjoy every bite in peace. I get back to my classroom without anyone seeing me carry this humongous cupcake down the hall (if someone had seen me I might feel guilty and not eat it) and I am just about ready to sit down and enjoy when I remember my commitment to myself.
I quickly called my husband and asked him to come see me for a minute. I took the cupcake out the door and handed it over to him without taking one bite. No, I didn’t even eat the Andes candy off the top. Test #1…success. This reminds me of a quote my amazing Weight Watcher leader says, “What you eat in private shows up in public!” I wonder what else this week has in store for me in terms of challenges?
We will always have “cupcakes” or challenges given to us. How we handle them is the true test. What are your “cupcakes” lately?
