May 2014 Goals

Where has this school year gone?!?  How are there only two and a half weeks of school left?  What a year it has been!  Getting back into the swing of things, learning the Common Core standards, and trying to do my best in behavior management has really taken a toll on me physically.  The scale has slowly gone up over the past school year and I am looking forward to this summer to GET HEALTHY!

I had a fabulous weekend spent in the mountains with my family!  Saturday was spent spending time with my mom and going strawberry picking (which I have wanted to do for a while)!

Mercier Orchards Strawberry Picking

We went to Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge to do the U pick strawberries!

It was amazing!  There were SO many strawberries and they were so yummy!

Later that evening, we went out to dinner with the whole family.  Afterwards we went dress shopping with my 8th grade niece, Haleigh.

It is so hard to believe she is going to her first dance!  She is so beautiful and athletic and I can’t wait to see the young woman she will become.

Being out in the sunshine and laughing and enjoying life – that is what it is all about!

Today was spent going to church and taking care of all the strawberries we picked.

Mercier Orchard Strawberries washed and ready to freeze

I had to wash them and get them ready to be frozen.  Then, I made fresh strawberry jam out of some of them.  I used my Jam and Jelly Maker.  Just pectin, strawberries, and sugar.  Yumm-o!

There is nothing like strawberries fresh off the bush.  They are amazing!

So, in getting back to this month and what I want to get out of it, I want to GET HEALTHY!  I am sick of feeling gross and gaining weight and watching the scale go up.  With summer almost here, it is time for shorts and sleeveless tops…and I need the ones I wore last year to fit!  Here are my May plans…

  • TRACK – We all know tracking is key.  When I track, I don’t go overboard and I pretty much stay focused.  My snacking is better and my eating is all around better when I track!  I just have to do it.  I am also opening up my tracker for Jacynta to look at and review.  This is big for me because she will see everything I am eating.  It will only work though IF I track.  Otherwise, she won’t have anything to look at!
  • WALK – I need to start exercising again.  I have plans to return to my Crossfit gym this summer when my days open back up and I have more time but in the meantime, I need to get my booty out in the street and get some darn exercise.  With the weather they are calling for this week, that should be easy!
  • NO SWEETS – With the end of the school year, I know sweets will be abundant.  I need to cut them out of my diet once again because they are out of control and they are totally unnecessary in my life.  I don’t need them, they make me feel gross, they make me gain weight and they just aren’t worth it!
  • PRAY – Our church is amazing and we are loving going and I really need to get back into The Word and talk to God more through prayer.  This will be a goal of mine this month!

As I sit here and type these, they seem so “here we go again with the same goals!”  But, if I will do it, it will work.  I would love to lose 5-8 pounds this month and not gain 5-8 pounds.  That will only happen if my eating is mindful and I get my booty in gear.

This month is going to pass up by whether or not we make a change.  Pretty soon, I will be updating this blog post and saying how I can’t believe it is June already!  That is how life goes…fast!  Are you where you want to be for summer?  If not, how are you going to get there?
