Tis the season! I love Christmas time. I love decorating the tree and reminiscing when I got each ornament I put on the tree.
I have ornaments from multiple students over the years, family, and fun times at ornament exchanges. I love taking time to put each one up and decorate the rest of the house. Our mantle is another favorite decoration spot for me:
Then, over the whole month, I get to enjoy the lights and the beautiful decorations.
December for me is also a time to focus on spending time with loved ones, celebrating Christ’s birth and giving to those that I love. At the end of the month, I don’t want to look back and regret an action or a decision I made. So, the goals for this month are going to seem somewhat simple but I think they will really help me stay on track without the guilt that comes with NOT meeting an expectation I put on myself.
The first goal I want to talk about is actually an Instagram challenge that I stumbled upon. It is called the #GrinderGlamChallenge and it is all fitness related things to do, post a picture of, and hashtag in the month of December. Here is the Challenge broken down by day:
Now, the cool thing about this challenge is that you can customize it and interpret it however you feel fit. I love that there is no set rule on “how” to do one task. So, for instance the Jumping Jack Frost day, you could post a pic of yourself doing jumping jacks in the cold or jumping rope outside. You could also post a picture of you just jumping. See how it is so easy to come up with something that fits your lifestyle? I am excited to try this challenge and think it will not only be fun but also keep me focused on fitness.
If you are Instagram, will you consider joining in on the challenge? If you are not on Instagram, it is super easy to sign up and then you can join in on the fun also!
My second goal for the month is to limit my intake of sweets. I am a sugar-holic! I would eat only sweets all day long if that was acceptable. I was going to put a limit on this and went back and forth in my mind about what would be an “appropriate” limit. For me, I have to have limits. If I were just to say I was going to “limit” then I would open that up to interpretation of what “limit” is. So, I am only going to allow myself one sweet a day. Period. I know for some, that would seem like a lot but for me, that will keep my intake under control. When I say one, I really mean one. Whether it be one cookie, one piece of pie, one candy, JUST one.
My third goal is to get back into the 180′s. I have crept back up into the 190′s and my weigh in tomorrow will probably just push me further into the 190′s. So, I need to get back into the 180′s so I am in a good position to hit the new year strong when January hits.
Fitness related, I want to do some sort of exercise at least three times a week. The holidays are super busy but there is no reason why I can’t get in at least a 30 minute walk three days a week.
Here are the goals in a list format so I can come back at the end of the month and report them to you:
- Complete the Instagram Challenge
- Limit sweets to one per day
- Get my weight back into the 180′s by January 1.
- Do some sort of exercise three times per week.
So, my question for you is, “How are you going to be successful and still enjoy the holidays?” Will you join the Instagram challenge?
