Vacation Weight Loss – Weekly Weigh In

I love going to Florida with my bff Kristen.  Not only do we have a great time, I always seem to lose weight while I am gone.  I think that just shows how badly I eat at home because, trust me, we eat GOOD while we are there.

Kristen’s mom is an amazing cook.  She is seriously one of the best cooks I have ever known (next to my dad and my grandmamma).  She is one of those “throw stuff together” people and it tastes amazing.  Take for instance the first morning we were there – she made quiche.  Kristen and I were both kind of like, “Gross” but then, we tried it.  It was so good.  It had all sorts of veggies in it (you know how I feel about veggies), just a little cheese, some eggs and that’s it.  So good.

Other meals she cooked us were ribs, steak, crab legs, lobster bisque, and pork chops.  I told you, we eat good.

I wasn’t sure how my weigh in was going to be when I got back.  I had to weigh Saturday morning for my Dietbet (it isn’t too late to join if you are still interested!) and it was U-G-L-Y.  As in, the highest it has been in like four years.  I was so thankful for some motivation to start it back in the other direction.

You would think eating all of those yummy things last week would make the scale skyrocket but it didn’t.  In fact, I lost weight while I was gone.

Weekly Weigh In September 18, 2014

Two pounds.  Some of that could have been the difference in weighing with clothes on and with only a t-shirt.  But, I will take it!

I know what you are thinking, “How in the world did you lose weight eating like that?”  Well, first off, we went for at least a 40 minute walk every day but one.  It is easy to walk with a friend – so much to talk about!  The exercise really helped combat what I was eating.

The other thing was we had a salad almost every day for lunch.  Kristen makes a darn good salad!  Somehow food always tastes better when you don’t have to make it…can I get an AMEN!?!?  That filled us up for the afternoon so there really wasn’t much snacking going on.

It showed me how just a few small changes here at home can make a big difference on the scale.  I plan to implement those changes this week.

I am going to either have oatmeal or a protein shake for breakfast every day.  I will continue to have a salad for lunch.  For an afternoon snack, I am going to make myself eat something (hopefully fruit) before I get home.  I am always famished when I get home so hopefully that will cut down on my before dinner snacking.  For dinners this week, we are cleaning out our freezer so there will be lots of chicken and veggies in our future.  There is also fish in there so we will have that one night.

We have gotten really bad about eating ice cream at night.  My goal for this week is no more ice cream!  I know if we don’t buy it, we won’t eat it so that’s the plan!

I want another week of weight loss and I am going to have to work hard in order to meet my Dietbet goal.  One week at a time.

As far as exercise goes, I want to get up at 5:00 a.m. and walk with the hubs.  If that doesn’t happen, I will walk at night when I get home.  I have to keep the exercise momentum going.  I feel so much better when I do!

How was your week last week?  Share your successes in the comments!  We are all in this together!  Have a fabulous week!
