Summer Recipe Swap – Weekly Weigh In

I’m back to my Monday night meetings.  I am not sure how I feel about this.  I loved Friday morning meetings with my sister and that group was so lively and talkative.

School is starting so it is back to Monday night meetings I go.

I weighed in this week and gained 2.2 pounds.

Weekly Weigh in

I was expecting a gain due to the fact that:

a) I went from weighing in in the morning to night

b)  I had “real” clothes on…not just workout pants and a t-shirt

c)  I had eaten that day.

Apparently this meeting has started something new called a “Traveling Tracker.”  They have taken a Weight Watchers 3 month tracker (it looks like a little notebook) and they are passing it around to a new person each week.  Guess who ended up with the Traveling Tracker?!?  You guessed it…Me!  Apparently every person who has had this tracker has lost weight the week they had it.  No pressure, right?!?

So far it has kept me on track today.  I guess tracking really does work in terms of mindful eating.  No more shoving it in your mouth without counting or thinking.  So far so good!

This week we had a summer recipe swap.  Each member brought a recipe to give to someone else.  I took a recipe for banana ice cream (if you are anywhere on Pinterest, I am sure you have seen this).  I ended up with one with brussel sprouts.  Can’t say I will make the recipe I brought home.  We are not big brussel sprout fans.

However, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to remind you of a few of my favorite recipes.

My all time favorite is my Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Protein Shake

It tastes like a milkshake!

My next favorite is a breakfast item:  Cake Batter Energy Bars

It is summer so I have to share my summer berry trifle.

Look at the goodness!

This is the perfect light summer dessert.  It is one of my family’s favs!

The last one I want to share with you is my banana split pie.

These are all from my blog in the recipes section!  I hope you will check them out, make them, and tell me what you think after you do!

What is YOUR favorite summer recipe?  We all love getting new recipes so please share!

Good luck this week with that ‘Traveling Tracker’! I just started tracking my food for the first a few weeks ago and I’m amazing at how well it keeps me on task. Every time I want to eat something I have think, do I really want to record this? Will this impact my totals for the day? Am I okay with that?

I am so making that energy bar recipe- most of those (and the smoothies, sigh) have things I am allergic to like bananas. But this looks amazing!!!

My contribution is a Cooking Light recipe for crab cakes. We catch our crab, so these are cheap eating. I don’t make the remoulade, I just sprinkle with lemon juice. Enjoy!

i love the idea of the traveler tracker but i know I would feel apprehensive if i was the one having it. Its easy to not be self accountable so much harder when your accountable to a whole group. I lose all paper and notes but I always have my phone so I set up a twitter account just for this purpose to track everything and with it public its out there for the whole world to see (even if no one ever looks at it, but i feel like they are), its not a habit yet, but one I hope picks up. Hope the Mondays work well for you. I don’t go to school but I have 4 out of 5 kiddos going back this year and know how busy it is. thanks for the blog, you have been a great motivator to me.

One of my favorite summer salads is dicing up cucumber, onion, tomato, peppers and mixing with cooked cooled couscous. I put in some fresh dill, basil (both from our garden) and diced garlic. A little evoo, salt & pepper and done. Its light, packed with veggies and delicious. I just made it this last weekend with cooked & cooled quinoa and it was just as good! :) )
