No Excuses – Weekly Weigh In

Setting our Yearly Weight Loss Goals!

Monday, my weigh in day was a day off of work for me.  It was the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr, so, as a teacher, I had the day off work!

I started my day off with a nice long walk/run.  That was a great way to spend my morning off work!  Then, I spent the rest of the day with my mom, sister, nieces and nephew.

The best part of our day was lunch at Chick-fil-A.

Since January 2009, my dad, mom, sister and I go to Chick-fil-A every January and make our weight loss goals for the year.

I can remember back to 2009 when we first did it.  I made my goals and decided that year was going to be different for me.  I don’t know if I believed it but I sure did say it.  I can also remember my mom telling us that the year was going to go by and we could all either do something about our weight or let the year go by and be in the same spot the next year. That year, my dad made goal at Weight Watchers and I lost 75 pounds.  I would say we took advantage of the year!

This year, I made my goal for 2012, I WILL make Lifetime with Weight Watchers.  I AM going to do it by my birthday but I would like to reach it in time for Spring Break, the first week of April.  This year, I will make NO EXCUSES and make it happen!

Monday night at my weekly Weight Watchers meeting, I got on the scale and had a gain of 1.8.  Blame it on the Mellow Mushroom pizza I had the night before my weight loss competition started.  Blame it on the monthly “visitor” that decided to come that day.  Blame it on the lack of tracking EVERY bite, lick and taste last week.  Excuse, excuse, excuse!

Actually, I choose to blame it on NOTHING….NO BLAMING!  NO EXCUSES!

It is what it is and I refuse to let the number on the scale define who I am.  It is a number and I am better than that.  It is merely a speed bump in the road.  I will lose next week and I will be stronger because of this.

Of course, this is all easy to say now.  On Monday night, I was just a teeny bit hell of a lot crabby about it!

The meeting was all about controlling your environment and not making any excuses.  You have to be in control of your destiny.  You are the only one who can.  Stop making excuses and start making actions that will lead to success.

Start Planning.

Start taking time for yourself.

Start tracking.

Start controlling your environment.

Stop making excuses!

Are you one to take responsibility or do you blame your surroundings or circumstances?  Let this week be a no excuse week!  You are worth it!  What is your weight loss goal for 2012?  Make one main goal and make this your year!

Good luck Jennifer. Often my patients fail to set realistic goals and few have the support structure it looks like you have! Remember too, weight loss and maintaining it is a life long journey. I find it helps if people know how to burn fat first and know how many calories they really need in a day. Have you ever done metabolic testing?
