I am so excited that Karen Wilson has decided to challenge herself each week by writing a weekly weigh in. I will be back to joining her as soon as Delaney is born but for now, she will report back to you after she weighs in. This is great for her and for you. Let’s all stay accountable!
I have to apologize to Karen for posting this several weeks after she sent it to me. I have had a doozie of two weeks with this pregnancy and will update you all tomorrow! For now, I am going to try and catch up on some posts that I have pending.
I have been Jacynta Harb’s client since February 2014, and I have made great strides. I have lost 60 pounds, and I have 15 more to lose before I hit my goal.
This was me back in 2011 when I weighed in at 220 pounds.
I have been hovering in the 150s-160s since November 2015. Lots of life changes occurred in the last year from my sister getting married to me ending a long-term relationship. All that to say, I haven’t made any true progress toward my goal of 145. But I am ready!
In order to “change things up,” Jacynta challenged me to join the Monday night group of Sparkle Wellness. Joining the Monday night group was a change to get me out of my comfort zone of just having one-on-one meetings with Jacynta or being with a small group of ladies. This class is huge! There are so many people who have taken the steps necessary to transform their lives. That’s pretty amazing!
Another new change for me is weighing in on Monday nights instead of self-reporting my weight. This is going to keep me accountable on the weekend. In the past, it’s been a “well, I don’t weigh in until Thursday, so it’s okay if I have that cocktail and cheesecake” mentality. You know all that bargaining with yourself that you do.
At Monday night’s meeting, Jacynta asked us to create a Sparkle goal. If I want to hit 145 by the end of the year (read: December 31, 2015), then my goal for September 14 is 156. Breaking down this larger goal into increments is going to help me not feel so overwhelmed.
So, here are my past numbers according to my doctor.
And here is where I am as of this past Monday’s weigh-in.
The biggest change for me is putting my weight out there and writing this post. As Jacynta says, connection with others is vital to the journey. I need you to hold me accountable, and I will do the same for you. I plan to report back here to tell you about next Monday’s weigh-in. One must challenge themselves to change themselves!
So less talk, more action. Here is my action plan for success on the scale Monday:
1) Alcohol free Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This will be tough with a concert Saturday night and a going-away party Sunday. But I can do it!
2) If eating out, decide ahead of time what I am ordering and pre-track it in My Fitness Pal. I know that my friends and I are having dinner before the concert at a local taqueria. I have been there before, and I know what I am ordering.
3) Hit 10,000 steps both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I plan to walk/jog at the park. Sunday will be more challenging, but I can park farther away at church, house walk, or mingle at the party instead of perching in one corner.
See you back here next week to weigh-in. Decide, Commit, Succeed! You can do it! What can you do to have success on the scale next week?
