It Works – Weekly Weigh In

Ya’ll…this whole One Day at a Time thing really works.  I seriously love it.  This is what happens when I decide to take one day a time:

March 2, 2015 weigh in

Yes…that happens when we take life one day at a time.  Down 2.4 pounds last week.  See that steady decrease over the last two months?  This happens in two months:

January to February Weight Loss Total

16 pounds in two months.  On average, 8 pounds a month.  I will take it!

You know why else One Day at a Time works?  Because every-single-day you get to start over.  There is no guilt.  You mess up one day.  Fine.  Move on.  You get another chance the next day.  There is no more week long pity party that goes on and on and one because you made a bad choice so you might as well forget the rest of the week.

Take today for example.  We had a luncheon at school where we brought in dishes and ate with our volunteers to thank them.  I thought it would be tacky if I took my Tupperware salad in to eat so I figured I would just be super choosy.  I made mostly good choices but I did indulge on some of my favorite crescent sausage thingies and boy were they good.  I did my best to track them in My Fitness Pal and that was that.  I figured if I went over my calorie goal for one day, it would be ok!  I will live and I will do better tomorrow.  The funny thing is, I came home and went on a nice long walk after school hoping to combat some of the crescent sausage things and after I got home I added up what I ate and I really didn’t do too badly.  Not nearly as badly as I thought.

One day at a time helps you make minute by minute decisions.  In the past, I would have just had a bad dinner since my lunch wasn’t so great.  How screwed up is that thinking?  I mean, it doesn’t make sense when you have done badly to do even worse.  But…before this new found mentality, that is what I did.

Of course, it also helps that I have a Dietbet ending soon.  Those things really keep me on my toes.  You all know how money is a big motivator for me and those do the trick!  I am going straight into another one so I can finish one right before Spring Break.  I will be loving it if I can lose another 8 or so pounds before spring break!  If you want to join me, click the link above.

Another thing that really helped me this week was exercise.  Almost every day I got in 10,000 steps.  I didn’t do anything crazy, just walking but I think that made a big difference.  Instead of eating my snow days away, I walked them away.  What a better choice!

You guys…it is all about choices.  Minute choices, hourly choices and daily choices.  Choices in the grocery store, choices in the volunteer luncheon, choices on whether or not to go for a walk when it is 70 degrees out and sunny.  It is truly all about choices!

Will you consider taking this journey one day at a time and one choice at a time?  If you have not started off 2015 the best you can, start now.  You CAN do this.  If I can, anyone can.  One-Day-at-a-Time!
