Fun Without Food – Weekly Weigh In

Tonight’s weigh in was a good one.  I challenged you all last week to track, track, track.  It is amazing what happens when we track!  For me…

October 8 Weight Watchers Weight

It leads to a loss of 1.8!  Perfect…on track weight loss!  I also noticed that this is my third week in a row with a loss.  I will take it!

How did you do tracking?

For those of you just joining us, we are into week 2 of our eight week Thanksgiving Challenge.  This week, the challenge is to switch our focus off food when we are socializing! How many social events focus on food?  Too many!

I have gotten much better about this lately but there is always room for improvement.

We have a big celebration coming up this week.  Jason and I will celebrate 8 years of marriage.  In the past, we have gone to a fancy dinner and had a great meal together.  This year, we are not going to focus on the food.  Instead, we are just going to focus on being together.  We are thinking of having a nice dinner at home (something Weight Watchers friendly) and maybe watching a movie.  I will let you know what we decide to have!  However, we WILL NOT focus on food.

What events do you have coming up this week where you need to find an alternative to going out to eat or having a big meal?  Try to be creative.  Meet at the park.  Volunteer at a local organization.  Find something to do that still involves you hanging out with friends or family that DOES NOT involve food.

Good luck…plan ahead and share what your plans are for a week of fun without food!

I just joined weight watchers this week after thinking about it long and hard…and then running across your blog sealed the deal. Just wondering how long the “honeymoon” period lasts with the tracking :)

It might sound lame but I play board games with friends instead of snacking all night. Games like Loaded Questions and Quelf make you laugh too hard to munch anyway.

I’ve been doing really well with tracking this week, even though I have had some rough days over my Daily, my weekly in looking good for my Thursday weigh in; and even though it doesn’t officially count until Thursday, I am looking at 2.8 lbs down this week!! Up for the challenge of visiting friends and making it about the new baby instead of food!

I hate tracking because it leads me to a very painful realization: my “guesstimation” skills truly suck. I was really eating eight servings of granola? Really? How is that even possible?

My recent (2 weeks and counting) tracking has garnered the same success you’re seeing. Eating less and exercise… why, that’s just crazy enough to work!

    Keep up the good work.

One of the things I want to do consistently, which I started during the 8 wk challenge is to include at least one power food and/or zero point food with each meal of the day. I don’t have a problem with social aspects of eating (i.e., friends without food) however. Spending time with people without food allows you to focus more on each other and your relationship or the purpose of the moment/activity without added strains.

I just stumbled across your blog and really identify with you as I am on a journey of my own. It has been 22 months in the making and I am just 10 lbs away from my goal of losing 90 lbs total…but it is HARD! Then again, anything worthwhile often is. I totally agree about the tracking – When I find I am getting stuck, sometimes if I just renew my dedication to tracking what I eat, I start losing again.

Maybe we could link our blogs up? Check mine out http://www.enoughofthefluff.blogspot.com/ and let me know if you want to. I would love to add you to my blogroll.
