Back on Track-Whoop Whoop-Medifast Weekly Weigh In

I am so excited to be writing this post because last week I was able to stay the course and get this weight loss train back on track. It was not easy but I did it! I have realized that when I feel like I am hungry, I am not actually hungry. I just feel like I should be eating something.

I am down 4 pounds for last week.

But…wait before you get too excited. Two of those pounds were back track pounds meaning that I had already lost them and had to go back and lose them again. Two are new pounds!! Whoop Whoop!! That is a total of 10.2 pounds since I started.

I did go out of town this weekend but I ate much better than when I went out of town 2 weeks ago. What was the difference you ask? Well, this trip I had my family breathing down my back watching every single thing that I put in my mouth.

While it could be annoying at times, I was thankful that they were there. I like the feeling of coming back from a trip knowing that I ate well then feeling horrible that I didn’t.

My next goal that I will be working towards is my family vacation. We are leaving for the beach in a month and I want to be beach ready. Well……more beach ready than I am right now. That means for the next month I will be really buckling down and making sure that I note everything that goes into my mouth to make sure I can get the maximum amount of weight loss for the beach.

I am in my kids last week of school so I am hoping life will slow down for a little bit and I can sit back and enjoy the journey. Is that possible? I have talked to a couple of people that have really enjoyed their weight loss journey. I will have to give that some time to see if that can happen for me!!

Now, on to my Medifast tip of the week.

This one is for the Medifast meals that you would typically eat around lunch time. The tip is to “always soak your soup”. Now when I say soups, I am talking about any of the soups, chili, macaroni and cheese, those types of meals. They have hard meats, beans or noodles that taste sooooo much better if you just let them soak for a couple of hours before you eat them. Make sure you are using only the amount of water the specific food calls for.  I got this tip off of the Medifast community boards and this was such a valuable piece of advice to make these foods a lot more palatable.

With that being said, there is not much of the Medifast meals that I have tried that I don’t like. The only one that I can think of that I will never, ever, ever order again is the cranberry mango drink. I could not get that one down. I tried everything that the Medifast forums told me to try. I tried soaking the powder, I tried adding ice in the blender, I tried adding diet Sprite along with the ice in the blender. I couldn’t get it down in any way.  It was horrible!

I thought that it would have been a good drink to have for summer since it could be cold and refreshing but that just isn’t going to happen. I enjoy the shakes which are super good if you blend them up with ice and I will just have one of those every morning for breakfast!!

One of the things that did surprise me were the bars. I really enjoy all the different types of bars. I used to only eat the peanut butter crunch bar but I have finally branched out and found some that I actually like as much if not better. A few of my favorites are cinnamon roll crunch bar, caramel crunch bar, and oatmeal raisin crunch bar. I am so glad that I finally branched out and tried some different kinds.

    I liked several of the medifast meals and would really like to get back into it but I am nursing a baby right now who has major tummy troubles from soy and dairy so medifast is out for me until he’s done nursing.

    Way to go Katherine! You are awesome! I have been on weight watchers for 4 years….lost weight…gained weight….lost…gain….lost….gain. It is exhausting! I am glad to have your perspective on Medifast. I may need to try something new because I think I am sick of counting points. etc. Anywho, you are doing awesome! Proud of you!

    OMGosh! I’m totally going to try your tip of the week! I enjoy a the flavoring of the products but, your right….the noodles/meats always are little too crunchy for me. This is genius!

    Congrats on your weight loss!!! Since starting this journey with you, I have lost 9 pounds….even with some hiccups of my own. I’m encourage to try & set a goal. Our vacation is in July….which is a bit too far off for me to use as my goal. Maybe my birthday which is a month away.

    Once again, thanks for posting your journey! It is really helping me & I re-read them when I’m having a hard moment!

    Way to go!!! Having people to keep you accountable is such a blessing! Some of my goals are to lose 90 lbs, stick with crossfit and paleo for a full year, and to start running some 5K’s. I feel like I’m at the base of a very large mountain looking up, but I’ll get to the top eventually. Keep up the awesome work!

    It’s good to here that we lost four pounds within a week which is great. For me the ultimate target is to lose weight for the beautiful dresses i always wanted to wear and due to my extra weight i had to reject the idea.
