Red’s All Natural Burritos/Burrito Bowls – Review

As you all know, I love Mexican food.  I love all things Mexican and I won’t discriminate.  The problem is that not all Mexican food is good for you or good for your waistline.  Have you ever looked at the burritos you can buy in the grocery store that are super cheap?  Don’t.  You will be grossed out.  I was going to pick some up for my husband to have on hand for a quick lunch and I was so disgusted by the ingredients and the amount of calories that I couldn’t get them.  Gross!

Well, luckily we have a better option.  Red’s All Natural burritos and burrito bowls are a much better choice.  They contacted me and asked me if I would like to try their product and I took a look at the ingredient list before I said yes or no.  Here are the ingredients in the chicken and cheese burrito:

Tortilla (Unbleached Wheat, Flour, Water, Canola Oil, Contains 2% or less of: Cane Sugar, Sea Salt, Cultured Wheat Flour, Yeast and Vinegar), White Meat Chicken Raised Without Antibiotics (White Meat Chicken, Water, Rice Starch, Salt), Brown Rice, Pinto Beans, Cheddar Cheese (Pasturized Milk, Cheese Cultures, Salt and Enzymes), Mozzarella Cheese (Pasteurized Skim Milk, Cheese Cultures, Salt and Enzymes), Green Chile (Green Chili and Citric Acid), Red Bell Peppers, Corn Starch, Water, Tomatoes, Spices, Garlic, Paprika, Sea Salt, Onions, Vinegar, Sugar

Anything you can’t pronounce?  Didn’t think so.

Anything you can’t recognize?  Nope.

The ingredient list look a lot like a burrito you would make at home.  That’s the point.  The founder of these products wanted an all natural burrito in the grocery store that had good, all natural ingredients that we could pronounce.

The chicken and cheese burrito is only 280 calories (vs 800-900 in those cheap grocery store kind), 7 g fat, and full of 16 g protein.

It tastes delicious too!  It is a good size burrito that is full of flavor!

All of their nutrition facts are on their site so you can go check it out for the flavor of your choice.  Speaking of flavors, the burritos come in six flavors:  Chicken and Cheese, Steak and Cheese, Chipotle Beef and Bean, Bean and Cheese, Chicken and Steak.  I love the chicken and cheese and the steak and cheese.  So yumm-o!

If you are looking to cut the carbs, they have a new product, Burrito Bowls.  That way, you can cut the carbs of the tortilla with all the goodness of the insides.

The burrito bowls come in two flavors:

Chicken Burrito Bowl Steak Burrito Bowl

They are super yummy and have a fresh cilantro taste.  They are very filling and again, contain ingredients you can pronounce.

So, if you have a hankering for some yummy mexican food but want to stay within your calorie range, head to your local store and grab these.  I just recently found them in my local Kroger.  I was so excited.  Of course, they were in the health food part of the store, not with the other frozen foods.  Just an FYI.

Have you tried these or seen them in your store?  When you find them and try them, leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
