KalorieBox – Review

KalorieBoxChristmas has just ended and I know I am looking forward to a new year with new health goals and better eating.

You guys know by now how much I love easy, healthy foods.  I also love to see others helped that are less fortunate.

KalorieBox does both of these.

The nice people over at KalorieBox sent me a box to try out their service.

Their motto is quite simple:  for every packaged food item the average person throws in their grocery cart, there is almost always a better option, and it’s their goal to put those options in our pantry to try!

Basically, they want you to be able to try a variety of low calorie foods without much hassle.

See the ease of healthy foods?  They also donate a meal to a hungry child in need for every box that reaches your doorstep!

There are three membership options you can choose from.  You can choose the monthly plan, 3-month plan or 6 month plan.  On the 15th of the month, a new box of goodies will arrive at your doorstep for you to choose from!  How easy is that?

Each month the box varies.  You can expect snacks, drinks, desserts, condiments, and everything in between.   Just rest assured that each month your box will contain healthy, low-calorie choices.  How cool is this for the new year with new health goals?

So…I know you are all wondering what I got in my box, right?  Well…wait no further…here is what my box contained:

KalorieBox Contents

Plentils Lentil Chips – These were awesome!  They gave us the margherita pizza flavor.  They are gluten free and are packed with protein.  Each bag has 2 grams of protein and 4.5 grams of fat.  One bag is 3 Weight Watchers Points Plus and you get quite a bit in the bag.  KalorieBox even included a coupon so we can save a little money when we go get them (and we WILL be getting them from our local Whole Foods!)

Simply Snackin’ – They sent me two jerkys to try.  We are both big jerky fans so we were excited to try these!  I was sent the chicken and the beef.  They both had a bit of a spice to them and we enjoyed the beef better than the chicken but they were both delicious!  The Teriyaki Dried Chicken Breast has a whopping 10 grams of protein and zero fat while the Teriyaki Dried Beef Sirlion has 8 grams of protein.  Both are only 1 Weight Watchers Point Plus for the whole strip of jerky!

Stubb’s BBQ – Stubb’s BBQ sauce has only 30 calories per 2 Tbsp serving.  It is a yummy sauce that would taste great this summer on foods on the grill.  This bbq sauce is only 1 Weight Watchers point per serving and is a nice combo of sweet and tangy with a little kick.  Yumm-o!

Fit Frappe – They sent me two different Fit Frappe protein drinks to try, Mocha and Vanilla.  You can make them hot, iced, or as a Frappe!  Each 16 ounce serving of Frappe has a stellar 20 grams of protein, only 130 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and is only 5 Weight Watchers points plus. For a 20 gram of protein shake, that is great!  They both tasted yummy too!

Hint Water – The idea behind hint water is simple but delicious:  pure water with a hint of natural flavors.  No sugar, no fake sweeteners, nothing but water and flavor.  The pomegranate-tangerine was delicious!  I didn’t think I would like it because I am not a big tangerine person but it was delicious.  The subtle hint of flavor was just that – subtle – and did not over power at all.  It was really quite refreshing!

The premise behind KalorieBox to get people to try new, better alternatives worked for me.  It was great to try new things and venture out of my “comfort zone” of products that I tend to purchase over and over.  It is good to “branch out” a little!

I really enjoyed trying all of the products that KalorieBox gave in the box.  With each box coming on the 15th of every month, you can have Christmas all year!

Would you ever try a pre-paid membership to something like this?  I know I sure would!
