Who doesn’t love a good Super Bowl party with lots of yummy food? The Super Bowl isn’t about just the game itself. It is also about the people you are with, the delicious food you consume, and who could forget the commercials?

Along with the fun of the party comes lots thousands of calories. According to an article in the USA Today, Super Bowl parties are second to Thanksgiving when it comes to the number of calories consumed. If we are not careful, we could eat our daily intake of calories, doubled, during one super bowl game.
DO NOT FEAR!!!!
I have compiled a list of my ten favorite Super Bowl foods and have found recipes to combat those fatty alternatives. A few of these will certainly make it to my super bowl gathering this year. So, here you go, my top 10 healthy Super Bowl recipes.

Buffalo Wings - When I think of a Super Bowl party, I think of buffalo wings. Hot, spicy wings full of flavor. The average buffalo wing will cost you 3 Weight Watchers points plus per wing. If I eat 9 wings, WITHOUT blue cheese dressing, I have eaten my ENTIRE days worth of points plus in one sitting. And…we all know I can throw back 9 wings without thinking!
Healthier Buffalo “Wings” – I found these Buffalo Chicken Bites and they look delicious! They are also a better option for those looking for the buffalo wing flavor without all the fat and calories. These bites are only 1 Weight Watcher Points Plus each so you can indulge this year!

Queso Dip/Seven Layer Dip - Cheese, Sausage, and Rotel…that’s a winning combination in my book! Serve it up with some Tostitos and I am in cheese dip heaven. Of course, I am also in calorie heaven! 1/4 of a cup of homemade chile con queso is 6 points plus!
Healthier Queso Dip – To get the same cheesy goodness with less calories and fat, try this Chile Con Queso. This queso is only 2 points plus per 1/4 cup serving so you are saving HALF the calories and fat by choosing this healthy alternative.
Healthier Seven Layer Dip – Try this 7 layer dip from LaaLoosh for only 3 WW points plus per 1/2 cup! You can have your dip and eat it too!
Guacamole - If you have Tostitos sitting around, why not have some homemade guacamole? Full of avocado, onion, lime juice and cilantro, it is a “healthy” fat, right?!? A 1/4 cup serving of store bought Guacamole will cost you 3 points plus!
Healthier Guacamole – For a better alternative, try Chocolate Covered Katie’s Avocado-Free Guacamole. This recipe is made with asparagus so you also get your serving of vegetables! This guacamole alternative is…get ready…NO POINTS PLUS!!!! In moderation, of course! Just make sure you count the chips you dip in the guacamole!

Buffalo Chicken Dip - Chicken, cheese, and hot sauce…sounds like a buffalo wing on steroids. I first had this dip at my friend Allison’s house and it was so yummy! I knew it wasn’t healthy but it was so good I couldn’t stop eating it! The average buffalo chicken dip will cost you a whopping 4 points plus for 1/4 cup serving. That is without any tortilla chips for dipping!
Healthier Buffalo “Chicken” Dip – Gina at Skinny Taste uses Shrimp instead of the traditional Chicken in her Hot and Spicy Buffalo Shrimp Dip. This is only 3 points plus a serving and a serving is 1/3 of a cup. Save some Weight Watchers points plus and try this recipe!

Nachos - A big plate of nachos…full of crispy chips, cheese, meat, olives hold the olives for me, sour cream and guacamole. A big plate of nachos such as this one will cost you…hold onto your seat for this one…16 points plus per serving! Yep!
Healthier Nachos – Slender Kitchen created some Irish Nachos that look heavenly! These will only cost you 4 points plus per serving. I would go for these if I were you!
Now, how about we combine Nachos, Wings, and Pizza?!? Sound like a plan? Then check this out:

Katie at Dashing Dish has successfully combined all three into this yummy Skinny Layered Pizza Dip! Each 1/4 cup has 2 Weight Watchers points plus. Can you say, “Yummo?”
Moving on to down the list…

Chili - When you walk into a Super Bowl party, it is always nice to smell chili cooking. Many people have it in the slow cooker all day so the house smells like chili for the party! Chili is a must for if you are hosting a super bowl party! A cup of traditional chili with beans will cost you 7 points plus per cup! That is without toppings like cheese and sour cream!
Healthier Chili – This Super Bowl, make this Turkey Chili in the crock pot and have it simmer all day. Your guests will LOVE it and you won’t have to spend your time in the kitchen while everyone is there. Each serving has 5 points plus so it is perfect to help you stay on track!

Brownies - You have to have dessert at a Super Bowl party. How about some chewy chocolate brownies, with or without nuts, doesn’t matter. The yummy chocolatey goodness from a traditional brownie is 9 points plus! Even a low-fat brownie is still 4 points plus! When I looked this one up using my Weight Watchers app, I thought it couldn’t be right! I double checked- 9 points plus for ONE brownie. It is true people, I’m telling you! I needed to find a healthier alternative F-A-S-T!
Healthier “Brownie” Dip - Chocolate Covered Katie came up with what might possibly be the best combo ever. Brownie in a dip form. Her Brownie Batter Dip looks delish and will not believe what the secret ingredient is! You simply must check this out!

Cocktails - It’s Cocktail Time! What would a Super Bowl party be without adult beverages?!? Beer is the beverage of choice for many men (Try to stick to lite beers!) but for the ladies, we always prefer a cocktail! A traditional cocktail will cost you anywhere from 4 points plus per cocktail all the way to 10 points plus – for ONE drink! And who is going to have just one?
Healthier Cocktails – Carrots and Cake has come up with a list of 7 Low-Calorie Cocktail recipes for healthy cocktails. She has a recipe for a Pina Colada, Sangria, John Daly, Cotton Candy (yum!), Creamsicle, Pomtini, and a Skinny Margarita. You have to check these out if you are a cocktail drinker!

There is no excuse for NOT trying to lighten up the traditional favorites this year at your Super Bowl party. If you are going to another location for a party, offer to bring something.
