Excuses…Excuses…

I’m too busy to…

Fill in the blank.  Fill it in with whatever you are “too busy” to do.

For me, lately, I have been “too busy” to exercise.  Plus, I think to myself, it is 80% what I put in my mouth so as long as I watch what I eat, I will be ok…for now…RIGHT?!?!?

I was talking to a colleague after work today as we were going over all the fun Valentine’s activities we are going to do with our kids tomorrow (a bit late but we have been out of school for over a week due to weather).  I was thinking about how nice it was to not have anything going on after school.  I wanted to come home, blog for a bit, do a few things I needed to do for school tomorrow and just enjoy being home early.  I tutored my Wednesday peeps yesterday so I didn’t have anyone this afternoon.  As all of that was running through my head, my colleague says, “I have so much going on this afternoon after school.  I have to tutor two people (3:30-6:00), run by the grocery store, cook dinner, and then go to the gym!”  It was really a fleeting conversation for us and I think I even thought, “Gosh…how nice to NOT have to do all of that after work today!”

Then, it hit me.

She was just as busy as I was (her afternoon is normally how my afternoon is), today she was even BUSIER than I was and she was still making time to go to the gym.

Someone busier than you is exercising right now

There is ALWAYS someone busier than me who is MAKING time to exercise.

That used to be me.  When I was training for my half marathons, running was a priority.  I would literally plan my days around my runs.  I had to.  I knew if I didn’t, there was no way I was going to be able to finish 13.1 miles.  It was important to me so I made it a priority.  Not so much the case anymore.  Now, my priorities are different but I need to get back to the basics I think.

I need to MAKE time for me.

I need to MAKE time for exercise.

I need to MAKE time to track in My Fitness Pal.

I need to MAKE my jeans fit comfortably again.

No more excuses.

What are your favorite excuses as to why you CAN’T do something…mine is definitely that I am too busy.  But, lately I did have time to watch all 8 seasons of Dexter on Netflix so how busy am I really?!?!

Let’s all have a minute of reality check, then move on.  Get active, track your food, make a plan, and make yourself a priority.  No more excuses…you are worth it!

On another note, I am hoping to go to a Weight Watchers meeting either tomorrow night or Saturday.  It has been a month and a half and a decision needs to be made.  I either need to go to meetings again or stop paying $40 a month for nothing.  Time to pee or get off the pot.

Separate note…Spring Break is a little over a month away.  A few people on Facebook asked about another Dietbet so I started another one.  You can join us HERE.

Now, no more hanging out on the internet, or Facebook or watching TV.  Get up and go do something that you don’t have time to do.  Ready, set, go…
